Hebridean skies

ReiningdaleWhere sea and sky merge, Reiningdale, Harris.

I’ve just returned from a journey to the Outer Hebrides. Ten days of sunshine, a bit of fog and haze at times, and very little wind. I would like to share a couple of privileged moments of beauty (obviously, the pictures do not do them justice).

We arrived at Casteldale on Barra and cycled to the north of the island in the golden evening light. From the B&B’s terrace, we witnessed the moonrise, and the next morning the sunrise.

The following day, we stayed at one of the Gaitliff Trust hostels in Howmore, South Uist. Getting up early in the morning, I enjoyed the sunrise. Over the hostel and the church beyond, the rose tinted clouds shared the curtain shape of the Northern Lights.

To the west, the rainbow felt like a special gift.
